Bangs

Waiting for a bus today, I sat and read a collection of Lester Bangs' writing's that I received as a gift from the Wiz. A young looking kid sitting across from me, who must of recognised the cover of my book, took off his head-set and said, "Lester fucking Bangs man, he died listening to The Human League". He put his head set back on so fast it was clear he didn't want to talk much.




For anybody interested in Rock Journalism Lester Bangs is essential, he wrote for rolling-stone but was fired for, "disrespecting musicians". Later, and for most of his life he wrote for CREEM magazine, they were a less censoring group of mother fuckers, so he dug that. This Book - Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung - is really funny, and chalk full of opinions, anecdotes and smears of lots of our favorite musicians. Thank you for the gift Tim.
